New progress has been recently made in major projects along the Kongtie Avenue. Great news from the project of Renji Hospital affiliated to Sun Yat-sen University (Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University Huadu Hospital)! On September 10, with the completion of the last concrete pouring, the main structure of Renji Hospital affiliated to Sun Yat-sen University was successfully topped off. And this historical moment was witnessed by leaders from the District Party Committee, District Government, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, China Construction Fourth Engineering Division, Guangdong Gedi Company and relevant agencies of Huadu District.

　　The Hospital is located in the east of Jinghu Avenue North, the south of Kongtie Avenue (the first phase completed in July 2022), and the west of Huangguang Middle School, with an approved construction land area of 80,612 square meters. Built to the standards of a class A tertiary hospital, it is planned to have outpatient clinic with complete range of disciplines, emergency department, inpatient services, and well-equipped medical science section; and at the same time it will also highlight its characteristic specialties, with special focus on the development and construction of three advantageous discipline groups, namely, oncology, pediatric hematology and oncology, and metabolic immunology. With a total construction area of about 170,000 square meters, the Hospital will have 1,000 beds. Its total investment of about 2.056 billion yuan partly comes from Gedi Company's donation, and partly from the District’s financial aids. The Hospital is scheduled to open for service in 2023.

　　Upon completion, the Hospital will be handed over to Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, which will run it according to standards and norms. Various kinds of preparations are in continuous progress for a functional hospital, in particular, the configuration planning of disciplines has been completed, plan for modern medical equipment and information construction has been formulated, and the manpower reservation is in process. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University will go all out to prepare for the opening of the Huadu Campus with a high sense of responsibility and dedicated passion, so as to make greater contributions to the development of medical services in Huadu District and to the health and well-being of local people. Huadu Campus will be an integrated part of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital with the same quality level in terms of medical treatment and management, will help solve the problem of lack of high-quality medical resources in Huadu District and promote the high-quality development of health care in Huadu District, and by optimizing the business environment of the District, will help build Huadu into the aviation center of the National Central City of Guangzhou, an important economic and population vehicle, and an economic growth engine in northern Guangzhou.

　　The successful topping off of the project is an important step in implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping's exposition on more balanced and higher quality public services; it is a fortunate and an important event for Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University and for Huadu, and it is what the people of Huadu and Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University have been eagerly looking forward to. The topping-off marks the beginning of a new stage in which decoration and opening preparation will be carried out.

　　In addition to Renji Hospital affiliated to Sun Yat-sen University, Huadu District has in recent years successively introduced a number of high-quality medical projects, including Huadu Campus of Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center, and Guangdong TCM Clinical Research Institute; and with the putting into operation of the inpatient building of the Central Hospital of Tanbu Town, the Recheng Community Health Center, and the Huacheng Community Health Center, Huadu is weaving a tight medical and health service network to create an all-encompassing medical and health structure that will make Healthy Huadu a reality.
